Yugo Takehara is a Professor of Business History at Gakushuin University, specializing in the history of Jewish entrepreneurship. His research focuses on the relationship between religious integration within the bourgeoisie and the economic rise of Jews. He has uncovered a correlation between the formation of a German national identity among Berlin's Jews in the 18th and 19th centuries and their economic contributions, which impacted not only Jewish society but also the broader secular community. In addition to his research on Jews in Germany, he is currently exploring patterns in the United States, particularly in New York.
