 Mareike-Christin Bues studied history, economics, and philosophy at University of Bonn, University of Paris, and University of Munich. She is interested in economic history and the history of migration and trade. She is a PhD candidate at the University of Munich and is currently an Associate at the Weatherhead Initiative on Global History. She is working on a dissertation titled, "Between Globalization and Nationalization: The Merchants of Hamburg in the German Empire, 1870-1914."
