Graeme Thompson

Graeme Thompson is an Ernest May Postdoctoral Fellow in History and Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School. His current research is focused on the history of empire and imperial expansion, Anglo-American liberalism and foreign policy, and ideas of world order from the 19th century to the present.  

Prior to his appointment at Harvard, Graeme was a policy analyst and speechwriter in the Foreign Policy Planning division at Global Affairs Canada, where he worked on strategic policy, Canada-U.S. relations, and democracy and human rights issues. He earned his D.Phil. in global and imperial history at St. Antony’s College, Oxford, and has held visiting academic positions at the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History and Massey College, University of Toronto.
