Conference: Participation, Inclusion and Social Responsibility in Global Sports

Date:

Thu - Sat, May 31 to Jun 2, 12:25pm - 12:25pm

Location:

CGIS South, 1730 Cambridge Street, S010 (Tsai Auditorium)

The third conference in the series on Soccer and Globalization will pick up on themes first explored in our first two conferences, “Soccer as a Global Phenomenon” (2016) and “Reinforcing, Crossing, and Transcending Borders: Soccer in a Globalized World” (2017). This conference will focus on participation and inclusion in global sports and global history. Using a more comparative perspective, we look to better understand how and why certain types of people are allowed to participate and others are not in a cross-section of sports and what is being done to address these inequalities. Scholars, NGO leaders, and club and organizing body officials have been invited to create a better dialogue between different stakeholders.

Please see the conference website for more information.
